December 5th - Decemer 11th

December 5th! Our arrival to Germany.

I'm writing this 2 1/2 years later, so pardon the missing chunks of the timeline...

I remember the feeling of arriving so vividly! I was nervous, but in a good way. Excited!  For once my anxiety was minimal, because I was so ready for this change. Our sponsor (Drews co-workers from Sembach) picked us up from the airport, they were so welcoming!  They had one van for our copious amounts of luggage, and another van for The Arconti 5 (thats us!).

I remember seeing all of the "Ausfahrt" signs, I thought they were arrows leading us to a city. 30 minutes later I was still seeing "Ausfahrt" signs, but I was far too tired to figure it out. Hey, it was 1am EST time! An hour later we arrived to our fully furnished TLA in Enkenbach-Alsenborn. Anyway, "Ausfahrt" is just German for exit, which I'm sure you figured out way quicker than me!

Nolan and Pierce started at Sembach Elementary December 10th, which was a Friday...I cant remember what that was all about.

Drew wasted no time in making memories! December 11th we went to the Wiesbaden Weihnachtsmarkt Christmas Market). I was disappointed, I guess I was expecting more locally crafted stuff. It was overpriced food, alcohol, bulk items that werent always made locally and kiddie rides. The kiddie rides made me happy for the kids though, so I guess that was a win.

Kartoffelpuffer. Basically a latke, so delicious with applesauce!
